FIND YOUR

EMPOWERMENT

WE

UNDERSTAND

We get it.

We know the struggles of walking through life disconnected,

alone, frustrated, and feeling like a doormat!

No more of that!

At Aspect Life Coaching & Serenity Center we set a standard of self care for ourselves. When we can fill our own “bucket” and nourish ourselves, mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally, we can be available and give to others from our “overflow.”

When we FINALLY make our  well being a priority, only then can we become a more authentic, present “us.” This, in turn, makes us a more available wife, mother, sister, daughter,

coworker, and friend!

You are invited to join us at our center to experience community, support, and uncovering your own inner wisdom on your journey.

"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding."  - Khalil Gibran

WHERE

I BEGAN

About 8 years ago, I began a journey of self-discovery.

Not because I particularly wanted to, but because I desperately needed to.

I was in a place where all of the roles that I played IN my life, BECAME my life. I was participating in an existence that had little to do with me.

I was on autopilot where each day blended into the next.

I was a mom of three.

I was a housekeeper, chef, organizer, wife, daughter, friend, and, of course, volunteer! I kept extending myself to the limit…except there were no limits.

I often felt drained at the beginning of the day as if I was asleep at the wheel.

I was mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted.

I recognized that I had to do something different.

HOW

I CHANGED

DARLENE'S

STORY

white center.png

It started with a breath.

I took a deep breath into my belly, and held my head up and shoulders back.

Just those simple things started a shift in me that affected all aspects of my life. When I started looking at things in a different way,

the things I looked at were different.

This began my awakening. It was slow. I had to be gentle with myself as these big changes were happening, but one day at a time, and little by little, the changes began building upon themselves.

What was the most important concept I needed to learn? SELF CARE!

If I didn’t take care of myself, no one else would.

We invite you to join us to experience your AWAKENING.

In what part of your life would you like to make a change?

Visit the Serenity Center and discover many ways to start making those small shifts that can bring you into alignment with your potential.

My encore career has been many years in the making after staying home to raise my 3 children.  I felt that it was a divine calling to provide a place for women to find support, accountability, and camaraderie. Aspect Life Coaching & Serenity Center was born in 2018 and was designed to be a unique place to cultivate serenity and practice self care.

My first degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College was in Special Education with a minor in Psychology.  I went on to work with children at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic’s inpatient and outpatient department, as well as at The Children’s Institute as a Behavior Specialist. After decades of working with children, both in my career and in my own home, I was inspired to go back to school for life coaching after experiencing how difficult it was for me to work on my own journey. While working on my Life Coaching certification,  I narrowed my focus to specifically helping women, while learning many new and novel ways to support others on their life journey.

I received my Certification in Coaching from Erickson International, one of the most prestigious Coaching Colleges. Erickson has an Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) from the International Coach Federation which teaches a Solution Focused Coaching approach.  With this method, the client and coach work together to create a plan for reaching goals, which is the approach I use with my own clients. It encourages working towards desired future outcomes, instead of concentrating on past experiences or reasons for present dissatisfaction.

Meditation, a long time passion for me, is a service that is offered at the Aspect Life Coaching & Serenity Center. I first was introduced to meditation as a practice in college. From there, I acquired a lifelong interest in learning and practicing meditation. In fact, for the past 8 years, I have worked with a Master Teacher in meditation, focusing on connecting mind, body, and spirit, acknowledging deep emotions, and allowing the body to do the work. Recapturing this connection to our true self is the driving principle of meditation.  I am often seeking out the guidance and benefits of meditation and truly feel that it has been a huge part of my healing journey.

Each day I purposely do something to take care of myself, whether it be something mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual. I truly enjoy walking my dogs, swimming, and stretching—and I would love to try a yoga class. I practice patience, particularly with others such as my three teenagers, who provide daily opportunities to test and try said patience. I allow my feelings to “be,” but work hard not to wallow in the sad ones.

I connect with my Higher Power daily through prayer, meditation, or nature. I breathe, slow down, and am gentle with myself, being wholly comfortable in the knowledge that I am human and not perfect. I practice gratitude, especially when I need to make a shift in my attitude. My family is also a source of inspiration for me and I love nothing more than to spend time with my three children—Rebecca, Grant, and Leah—as well as with my husband, Shawn, with whom I love to attend concerts, dinner, and the movies. Finding time to reconnect with my family is incredibly important to me and I look forward to the times when we are all together.
